Almost there

I know, I’ve been real bad in updating over the holidays but as soon as I’ve cured my jetlag I will fill you in on the ongoings (or non-goings really) – so, I’ll be back…real soon.

When it rains in Singapore it sure rains – can hardly see the building across the street and it’s dark as on a winters day in Sweden….

Oh my, some days you sure feel that you are not 20 anymore. Yesterday was one of those. Was at the opening party for Burberry at Ion Orchard on Tuesday night. And what a party it was. People lining the red carpet (which was actually beige….) to spot celebrities…and there we came walking, was a very surreal feeling. But fun.

Once inside it was packed with people and the bubbly was flowing freely. The Creative Director of Burberry, Christopher Bailey, was there and the poor thing had to have his pics taken with almost everyone. Yes, us incluced. Of course. But guess it’s part of his job when going to events like this.

Afterwards me and Fx was to have dinner at Hyatt with one of his former colleagues and friends but we ended up getting a big part of the gang coming with us so instead of a quiet dinner it became a much bigger one. Kudos to the staff at Hyatt for arranging so we could have one of the private diningrooms. Lots of food, lots of drinks, lots of laughter. Brilliant night. Late night. And oh, did I suffer for it yesterday. But worth it. And am feeling a lot fresher today. There’s not much that a good nights sleep cannot fix. Now we have to gear up for the weekend, even though it will be a rather mundane one.

We finally managed to get out of the office around 2am on Friday, or Saturday to be more correct, which was a blessing. Took me ages to fall asleep though and then I woke up early and couldn’t get back to sleep again which was pretty annoying. My plans of lying by the pool was spoilt as well as the weather decided to continue being in a bad mood, which resulted in one of the worst thunderstorms I’ve experienced here in Singapore on Saturday. Was kind of cozy though snuggling up in the sofa watching movies. Spent the entire weekend with mum, decided I totally needed to shut off from everything so didn’t even answer my phone or anything which was just sooo nice.

With the weather being as it was we ended up doing a bit of shopping as well, I had to see if I could find a dress for a wedding at the end of the month and to my big surprise I found the perfect one. Not easy trying to find something summery in October, not even in a country like Singapore. Happy, happy.

Apart from that, it was one of the most relaxed weekends I’ve had in a really long time so feel rather re-charged and ready to tackle this week. So far it has started pretty good, there are a few changes that needs to be done to the things we did on Friday but as we have the base in place it’s just a bit of tweaking and re-phrasing of stuff so the pace is less hectic. Fingers crossed I might add. Better safe than sorry you know.

Oh, yesterday was also an anniversary for me. It’s been three years since I moved to Singapore. Can’t believe it’s been that long. Time really do fly when you are having fun….

Car hand

I just got one of the best laughs of the evening.

Am listening to the radio and they are currently running a contest where you call in and if you are the first and second person (or something like that) you have then won a spot in a contest that takes place this weekend where the first prize is a car. To win it though you have to be the last person standing with your hand on the car – last years winner stod there for over 81 hours so they are in for a long one.

Anyway, a call came in and the DJs answered and a voice on the other end said “hi, can I connect you to my boss?” and the DJ’s both went “huh?!”. I did as well. Then I started laughing. Someone had asked their assistant to call into the contest and then if she got through to connect the call to him. Seriously, that can so not be in her job description. But it made for a really good laugh.

Cannot stop to wonder though if he will be the one standing with his hand on the car or if he will send his assistant for that one too…..

Decoration frenzy

Panicked a bit when passing Tanglin Mall/Orchard Road yesterday and saw that they have started to put up the X-mas decorations. Hello, it’s not even mid-October!!!

Don’t know if it’s only me but it seems like they get started earlier and earlier for each year.

I’m not ready for X-mas yet!
